A year painting Blenheim

Like most artists, the lockdown period for me was spent painting either in the studio, or in the countryside surrounding my home. I am fortunate enough to have Blenheim Park close by. Whilst the park is beautifully maintained, there are also wilder, more remote spots so I never tired of what it had to offer throughout the seasons. The music is 'The ancient oaks of Blenheim' which I wrote and recorded over the same period.

Painting Woodstock's water meadows

Trying to capture the midsummer light during summer 2020. The music is 'All rivers lead to the sea' written and performed by myself on mandolin and guitars.

Oxfordshire Artweeks 'lockdown' 2020 virtual exhibition

Sadly the Oxfordshire Artweeks festival cannot happen this year but here are a few of the pieces I would have been showing. You can see lots more of my work at www.rodcraig.com The music for this video is 'all rivers lead to the sea' which I wrote and recorded for mandolin and guitar.

An ocean in between the waves: A five minute watercolour

A quick watercolour painting working on Khadi Indian rag paper. I like to work on wet paper using strong colours and a water spray to keep the paint flowing. The idea is to create a mood and a sense of movement and place without being too literal. The music which I recorded in the two days prior to the painting hopefully completes the picture by using the instruments to create feelings in a similar way.
